Well, the hottest iPhone 5 rumour may just have emerged. According to reliable sources from KnowYourMobile, Apple may launch their new iPhone (we hope the iPhone 5) on August 7th. This day does not follow their usually release schedule, which is almost unlike Apple. However, I believe that they will have an earlier launch date so they can cash in on the back-to-school season. At this event, we can also expect to see the launch of the new iPod line, and hopefully the rumoured iPad Mini and/or the Apple TV.
According to rumours, the iPhone 5 could feature a smaller dock-pin connector, a bigger screen, and possibly NFC technology. It could also have a new design, and rumours point to a “tear-drop” design. This release would also be before the Windows 8 phones and tablets, so Apple may try to steal some market share and customers from Apple.
Although this date isn’t certain yet, the iPhone rumour mill is heating up. However, in order for this device to truly sell, Apple must bring new features to the iPhone that will “set it apart” from the rest of the other smartphones. It’s going to be interesting to see what Apple does to compete with the new Windows Phones, the Samsung Galaxy S III, and other upcoming smartphones.
So what’s your opinion on this release date and the iPhone 5? What new features do you want to see, and Apple doesn’t bring enough to the market, will you switch from iOS to Android?
